Islamic Ethical Principles and Globalization: A Path to Partnership between America and the Islamic World


A lecture by Farooq Kathwari

 

On February 27, 2007, Dialogues: Islamic World-U.S.-The West, in cooperation with the Stern School of Business, hosted a lecture to honor Farooq Kathwari, Chairman, President and CEO of Ethan Allen Interiors, Inc.

Farooq Kathwari has been President of Ethan Allen since 1985 and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer since 1988. Under his leadership Ethan Allen has been transformed into a leading manufacturer and retailer of home furnishings in the United States. In addition to his success in the business arena, Farooq Kathwari lends his leadership to a number of American and international not-for-profit organizations, including the Council on Foreign Relations, Dialogues: Islamic World-U.S.-The West, Freedom House, the National Retail Federation, Refugees International, and the World Conference of Religions for Peace. He has been a strong proponent for bringing peace to Kashmir, and has propelled the peace process through the Kashmir Study Group, an organization that he founded and chairs. He is the recipient of numerous recognitions for his leadership in the boardroom and his commitment to the betterment of humanity.
